Elizabeth and I had a lot of fun over Spring Break. We laid on the beach for seven days straight. It was awesome! I love that time to just relax and catch up on sleep (and get some color.) At night we went shopping, spent way to much money, and finished the night off with some chocolate covered bananas finished with crushed oreos. They sound weird, but they are soooo good! It was a little windy, but still warm.
We were luckily away from the party end of Panama. However, we did have to drive through it to get to Pier Park to shop. One night it took Elizabeth and I an hour to go 8 miles! It was insane! There were teenagers everywhere. They were walking in the middle of the road like they were invinsible and the car wasn't going to run over them. If you honked your horn or yelled at them to get out of the way, they yelled back cussing and throwing boxes at your car. Where they got boxed I have no idea. Some people just approached your car and tried to talk to you. One kid actually smacked our back window. I would have gotten out and shared my not-so-kind thoughts with him on how he should move out of the way because the road was made for vehichles and the sidewalk and grass was for him, but I was afriad he was going to jump me or something. A few other people tried to come have a conversation with us while we were driving and I think I pushed the lock button at least 100 times. There was anywhere from middle schoolers to college kids walking in the street. I understand high schoolers and college kids being out but I would really like to know where the 12 and 13 year old parents were. Who would let their kid go down there. It wasn't even really like a party at a certain place. Get this, the cool thing to do was walk up and down the road... I don't get it. How is that fun? Shopping sounds way more amusing to me. Everytime they walked by someone they would scream as a greeting.. It was a zoo! A few days later, we were talking to someone we knew and they told us there was a way around all the mess.. That would have been good information earlier. The traffic was so slow that we would pass these two boys, and then they would walk by. It happened at least five times.
Other than the caos, the trip was amazing! I love the beach! We also road go-carts and did this surfing imitation ride. This guy controlled how fast the board moved and we had to try to stay on. It was quite a show. We also did the trampoline thing where they have you harnessed to bunji cords. I'm pretty sure I lost some brain cells from flipping so much! It was fun though. And we had some pretty awesome food! I don't eat sea food, but everything I ate was so good! I had a reese's waffle that was amazing. It could have been even better if all of the chocolate and peanut butter peices weren't all in the middle.
Spring Break 2011 overall was a success!
